Hi there and welcome,
“Wedding Photography Lessons” is a collection of articles (see menu on the left) intended to inform and educate the viewer regarding the science, business, and art of wedding photography. Beyond that, its real purpose is for me to have fun in writing:).
The articles are pointed toward advanced photography hobbyists, professional photographers as well as players in the wedding business. Future brides and grooms might find it interesting to take a peek, too.
You’ll always find new articles, so remember to always check back. And if you want me to write about certain themes just write below and let me know. For now, have fun.
Warmest regards,
Windee

Hi Windee,
I saw alot of your photos, how did you manage to get the color so well? I tried taking a few photo but can’t seems to get that color to come alive (like how you did). Any pointers?
Also, while I was doing my study, I come across this filter called “Graduated Neutral Density Filter”. What is it and how will it help to bring the color in my outdoor photos?
Thanks!
Ella
Hi Ella,
Sorry it took very long to answer your questions. Didn’t really expect January was gonna be a really busy month.
Thanks for the compliments.
To get good colors, first the exposure should be correct (not over- and not underexposed). Sure you can correct the exposure in Photoshop (blacks and whites stay the same, though) but you’ll get noise and color shifts as well.
Then enhance the color in Photoshop. Three features are deadly necessary (while others help you fine tune your image or add effects to it): Levels, Curves and Hue/Saturation. Learn these three features properly and really understand the meaning of the diagramms. Buy yourself Photoshop Classroom in a Book or borrow it from your local library, it’s worth it.
Neutral Density Filter is a filter that reduces the amount of light passing through it (without changing colors or anything else). Usage is for example if you want to use a slow shutter speed on a very bright day (e.g. your aperture is already the smallest and the speed is 1/250 s but you want 1/60 s).
Graduated Neutral Density Filter is a neutral density filter that graduated from a university. No, I think it’s something else: The filter graduate from grey to transparent. Usage: To reduce the amount of light only for a part of the image. For example you shoot landscape and the brightness difference between the sky and the ground is to big for your film/camera sensor to handle. So the filter reduces only the brightness of the sky but let the brightness of the ground unchanged.
Happy Learning!
ikut belajar dongggg…..
Welcome Uung.
Hi guys, I’ve just found this site from the job vacancy site, karir.com, well it nice to be here where people are sharing experience in photography. Im just a new baby in photography who wants to learn alot in commercial photography :)
here is my flickr link http://www.flickr.com/photos/aloysius_jenner
Please add me on your account guys and give me your comment …
My comment for http://www.photofactorybali.com photos collection are all very natural in capturing the moments, not like the trend in jakarta where all the wedding photos are depending on the digital artists in enhancing the colour and finally looks like a painting.
Thank you
Hello Windee,
uh keren sekali ……… wah hebat-hebat……seneng deh liatnya…..wah tau dong yang ini mau ngapain. Kita sawangin biar usaha lancar ya.

Hi Aloysius,
I’m also still learning. Actually, I’m a lifetime learner.
Thanks for your nice comments.
I like digital techniques but love making natural looking photos, so I stay true to it, whatever the trends might say….
I like the colors of you photos, and your objects seem to be relaxed. That’s good. For my taste some are too bright and some others need more contrast, though.
i want to learn about photograph too… because i love it!! could i??
Hi Windee,
I have been following your work for the past 6 months and until today I am still amazed everytime I look at your work. You always use lovely angle and the composition of each photos are perfect.
Being a fan of candid photography, I honestly feel that you have the eye to capture the right moment. This combined with good attention to details and lovely colour contrast makes your work outstanding. I like reading your blog and hope to learn a few tips that you’ve shared with us.
A couple of years ago, I also picked up photography as a hobby, it’s very addictive! Like most beginers, I started with street photography, despite my poor photography technique, I love to venture around the city to capture the beauty around me, the stories and the emotion.
Your work is very inspiring Windee, it makes me want to grab my camera and go out!
I posted some of my amateur candid photographs on the link below,

Hope to see more of your photography soon!
Elke
Hi Elke,
Thanks a lot, I’m all flattered here…
Good thing about photography is, I’ll never get to the point where I would think, “Oh, well, there’s nothing more to discover & learn.”
You’ve got a bunch of nice pictures yourself. Nice, clean compositions. My favorite is “On top of the World”.
“Closing in is interesting” because you put the picture upside down…
Yes, I know exactly what you mean with “very addictive”…
So just go out and get some more…let me know when you post more nice pictures.
Thanks again, Windee
Hi Dessy,
I think you sure can. What’s holding you? Go out and take some pictures, share them on the web…
