My wife Diana is a brilliant makeup artist (hi darling, yes darling, you know that I know that you are going to read this. I love you…). We spend most of the time together you would think we are twins.
We took this shot in 2005 in my photo studio then (don’t have it anymore, I like it outdoors more) with a cheap trick.
I took two shots: The first one with the focus on her eyes, the brush was already in the picture. I wanted to get a small depth of field, the eyes sharp, all other things except for the brush should be blurred. So I took a second photo focussing on the brush, without Diana. I put both photos together and added motion blur of the brush in Photoshop.
By the way the brush was attached to a styrofoam board just outside the frame with a satay skewer.

Hi Windee,
I didn’t have time to perouse the other links on the photo factory website until now, back in Sydney. Now I’m glad I did. I was wondering when we met you and Diana at the Hotel Padma whether she was your wife, as Diana does not share your surname…now we know! Just told Nigel this and he replied, “Oh really? She was a real sweetie”. It’s always been lovely for us whenever we meet a nice couple, as it makes us feel really nice about our relationship too : )
Thanks again for your beautiful work on our wedding day! We love the album and only wish we could have more photos of us taken like that.
Btw, now that the time has come to change my surname, I’m a little sad to no longer be a Winata.
Warm regards,
Stephanie
Hi Stephanie,
Yes, you’re right, it’s lovely to meet nice couples like us :). And like you and Nigel….
Many thanks to you, too. It’s really nice to know you, and it was surely a pleasure documenting your wedding.
We wish you all happiness together. Keep in touch when you have time…
Warm regards from Bali,
Diana & Windee
